A remarkable place and a community I value.
What I value most about Parksville is its strong sense of community, along with our incredible access to beaches, trails, mountains, lakes and the many small communities that make Vancouver Island such a treasure.
Parksville is where I built my life, raised my family, worked alongside neighbours and formed lasting friendships.

Safety
Safety is really important to me. We want Parksville to be safe for residents, businesses and tourists. Property crime and unsafe walkways affects people’s sense of security. I think we need to work with the RCMP, businesses, and residents to understand where the problems are. I am sure we all want our community to be safe for everyone involved.

Housing & Livability
People at different stages of life need realistic opportunities to live in the community they call home. I want to understand where the City can make a meaningful contribution while considering neighbourhood livability.

Local Business & Downtown
Local businesses are an important part of Parksville. Having spent much of my working life in the restaurant industry, I understand some of the day-to-day realities faced by people working in service businesses.

Parks & Recreation
Parksville’s waterfront, parks, trails and recreation opportunities are important community assets. They contribute to quality of life and should be considered carefully in long-term planning.

Community Engagement
Residents should have access to clear information and meaningful opportunities to participate in local government decisions.
Meet Jody
Parksville has been home for more than 30 years.
I have been proud to call Parksville home since moving here from the Prairies in the early 1990s.
As a single mother, I raised my daughter, Daphne, while working full-time in the restaurant industry, primarily in Parksville. Along the way, I became involved in our community through activities such as taekwondo, where Daphne and I earned our black belts together.
Kickboxing and squash have also been longtime interests of mine. Daphne attended the French immersion program here, and she is now on her way to becoming a teacher herself.
